the principles of practical vineyard management  - keeping it simple by mark verhayden

mark verhayden has a viticultural business vine locum services. after 20 years of working in the vineyard and observing first hand what occurs on a day to day basis he decided to put together a guide to assist others wishing to work in this rewarding field.

there are a number of technical viticultural books published based on both new world and old world viticultural practices but this book, based on the KISS principle i.e."keep it simple stupid", is a practical hands on, day to problem solving publication covering issues from business management and planting of the vineyard through to budgeting for a spray unit , herbicide, hail, frost and stress management , top working, canopy management and harvesting.

the book also comes with a package of other very useful products on cd such as a  time card, haccp compatible field spray application sheets, irrigation diary brix/baume conversion chart, vine stress management chart. All of these items can also be purchased separately

australian wine styles and tastes

this book is ideal for those who are new to the wine industry and perfect for training cellar door staff. It is the recommended text for the accredited wine education courses that I run. written by patrick ireland who was lecturing at roseworthy way back when I attended and who now lectures at the university of adelaide and peter gago, the chief winemaker for the penfolds label, it is a great lay mans guide to wine with great detail but no technical jargon.
